I have been in touch with other clergy who are supportive of marriage equality but for a variety of reasons cannot marry same sex couples.
Presbyterian Rev Donald Borrie is one minister who was happy to speak out publicly but is not practically able to conduct marriages. He would like to be able to officiate at same-sex weddings but cannot due to his health status.
David Medland is a Salvation Army officer and an independant marriage celebrant. He is happy to officiate at same-sex weddings. He can be contacted through his website Personalised Celebrations.
Some supportive clergy are in denominations which have a ban in place, others are in congregations where they do not feel able to speak out. A few don’t wish to publicise themselves because they have retired.
I am hopeful that more clergy will be able to speak out freely as attitudes within churches catch up with the rest of society.
